31 year old Nou Camp star Alves is out of contract in the summer and is certainly capable of replacing Ivanovic at right-back and may be tempted by a move to the Premier League table toppers.

Alves would be available on a free transfer and as such can command a massive salary with the Blues having the financial pulling power to meet the Barcelona star’s wage expectations.

Ivanovic has been a virtual ever present under Mourinho and is a player the Chelsea manager would be loathed to lose but should he indeed do so then Alves is in many ways an ideal replacement.

Dani Alves has won just about every honour in the book during his time at Barcelona and no doubt the La Liga side are fighting tooth and nail to retain the former Sevilla man, not least as the club’s transfer ban would affect Luis Enrique’s ability to replace the star turn.

The further motivation of joining fellow countrymen Ramires, Oscar, Felipe Luis and Willian could also aid Mourinho’s move to capture Alves.
