Manchester City star Yaya Toure has spoken regularly with Sampdoria midfielder Afriyie Acquah and promised him he could be his replacement at the club one day, according to the Daily Express.
The 23-year-old came up against Toure in the African Cup of Nations this winter, playing for Ghana against Toure’s Ivory Coast side.
Acquah admits Toure is an idol of his, and also revealed the Etihad Stadium ace told him he could be his ‘heir’ at the club.
“Yaya Toure was always my idol,” he said.
“Once the game was over, he called me and we talked. He said that I played well and one day I’d be his heir at Manchester City.”
