The Daily Mail report that the Argentine centre back is suffering from a groin injury, and will undergo tests on Saturday before a final decision is made.

It gives under fire boss Louis Van Gaal a huge defensive dilemma ahead of Sunday’s game – Jonny Evans is suspended and Luke Shaw is also a doubt.

“More or less, only Robin van Persie is injured” said Van Gaal.

“That is a good sign – when you have a defeat and all your players want to train and show the energy in the training session. That’s good to see.”

“Rojo and Shaw are also a little bit injured, we might have to take them out of the Spurs game.”
