Louis van Gaal is known to be on the lookout for a new signing at right-back, with the 21-year-old Portuguese starlet looking the ideal candidate to play as an attack-minded wing-back in the Dutchman’s 3-5-2 system.
Real are leading the chase for his signature, however, with the Spanish giants considering making changes to their defence as they also target in-form Brazilian wide-man Danilo from Porto.
Esgaio is another outstanding prospect in Portuguese football, however, and has caught the eye on loan at Academica from Sporting this season.
