The Red Devils look in need of fresh blood in attack, with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie also struggling to reach top form, and van Gaal has identified two exciting young players to do the job.

Firstly, United could spend around £30m on signing Palermo starlet Paulo Dybala, who has lit up Serie A with his displays this season, drawing comparisons with Sergio Aguero.

Secondly, a further £15m could go on signing West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, who has impressed in the Premier League this season despite some off-the-pitch controversies.
