The 21 year old livewire has impressed in his debut season in the Premier League, netting five goals thus far, and is seemingly attracting the interest of sides in the upper echelons of the table.

“I’m not surprised [by the interest in Perez]. He’s a young lad and an exciting talent,”

“I know for a fact there is interest. You go in coaches’ rooms after games and have a chat. A few people have spoken very highly of him, which is good.

“I had a good chat with Brian Kidd at Man City about him.” Carver added.

One would have to wonder quite how Perez would fare at the Etihad Stadium given the presence of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Stevan Jovetic and new signing Wilfried Bony in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.

Indeed the former Tenerife man may be better off sticking it out at St James’ Park where he can grow and mature into the finished article.
