Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 title challenge came to a screeching halt at the Stade Chaban-Delmas when they were beaten 3-2 by an excellent Girondins de Bordeaux side.

After their aggregate victory over Chelsea in the Champions League in midweek, PSG were brought crashing down to earth by Willy Sagnol’s superb Bordeaux team.

Lamine Sane rose above the capital club’s defence to give the home side the lead inside the first 20 minutes.

Paris laboured, but it took them over half an hour to find a response, and even that came from an error, as Cedric Carrasso failed to claim a loose ball, allowing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to nick in and equalise.

Some sides might have been content to bed-in and hold onto their lead, but not Bordeaux, who raced forward and retook the lead through club Player of the Month for February, Wahbi Khazri.

Despite their evident fatigue, PSG looked to have stolen a point with a 85th-minute effort; Zlatan firing home from the penalty spot after Mariano appeared to bring down Ezequiel Lavezzi.

However, this bout had a final twist in the tail.

Desperate not to send their supporters home with a sense of disappointment, Bordeaux launched forward and Diego Rolan found the winner at the death.

Just how much will the Argentine’s goal damage PSG’s title hopes?
