There has been uproar about the video, which shows the pair mucking about in the England captain’s home with some dangerous consequences.

However, his manager is not interested in debating the incident, and was even unhappy at the press even mentioning it.

The 63-year-old said: “In what a world we live that we are talking about such a thing – that a newspaper paid a lot for a video and I am answering questions about that. What is this world, twisted? I don’t want to answer questions about such things.”

His captain was also disappointed at the footage emerging, and said to Sky Sports: “That’s the world we live in today. It’s in my own home, it’s not public, it’s what friends do – they mess around in the house. It was a couple of mates in a private house, and somehow it’s managed to get on the front page of a national newspaper.”

The 29-year-old seemed more at ease about the situation during the match though. He even brought out this great celebration after scoring.

Both of the Dutchman and the England skipper will want to put the issue behind them before their next match against Liverpool in a week’s time. The fixture is likely to be huge in the race for the Premier League top four, as the Merseyside club will potentially be just two points behind the Red Devils should they beat Swansea City on Monday.
