Although reports in the English press suggest the two Manchester clubs could try and lure him to the Premier League this summer, sources in the US report that Ronaldo’s heart is set on a move to the MLS, with Miami, Los Angeles, and New York his three favoured destinations.

In 2018 Ronaldo would be 33 and would have just competed in what would probably be his final World Cup. While he would be older than Beckham when he moved the the US (32), he would still be considerably younger than both Gerrard (35) and Lampard (37).

A lot of the speculation revolves around Ronaldo’s perceived unhappiness in the Spanish capital, though whether he would be willing to wait three more years before moving is unknown.
