Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard is preparing for his final appearance at Camp Now to face Barcelona as his team aim to upset the odds and overturn a 2-1 defeat from the first-leg.

Lampard has engaged in many battles at the famous stadium, as Chelsea and Barcelona went through a period of intense rivalry, but Wednesday might well just be his last appearance there.

Man City need to beat Barcelona by two clear goal if they are to stand a chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

“It’s one of football’s great arenas. I’ve had the runaround there, but I’ve also been fortunate to have some of my best nights there,” Lampard told Match of the Day magazine (via the Mirror).

“The old stadium, the size of it, the fans – you can feel the magic and the history. I’ll be delighted to go back!

“I have a soft spot for Messi from playing against him over the years, and I he’s the greatest player of all time, so I’d have to say him. He could be some kind of superman in one of my books, but you’d know it was Messi!”

Lampard scored one of the best goals in his career at Barcelona, and Man City will be needing the goal-scoring midfielder to role back the years should he be introduced late on in the tie.
