America president Ricardo Pelaez had asked Veracruz to reschedule the league game due to his side’s trip to Costa Rica for a game against Herediano in the semi-final of the CONCACAF Champions League on Wednesday.

Peleaz was furious about Veracruz’s decision, especially as America lent their facilities to Veracruz during the pre-season.

“We invited Veracruz to have their pre-season training in our facilities, I can’t believe it” he said. “But, they have their right to refuse and we will try to play a good game in Costa Rica and then again against Veracruz”.

There is no clear reason why Veracruz couldn’t reschedule the game, and it appears they are just trying to gain a competitive advantage.

Kick-off in Costa Rica on Wednesday is at 20:00 local time.
