The game marks a complete turnaround for Mignolet who was dropped for the reverse fixture back in December but has responded well since reclaiming the number one spot, helping the Reds string together a 13 game unbeaten run in the league.

That run has re-ignited their season and they go into the game at Anfield just two points behind United in the table, and with many tipping the winners on Sunday to go on and claim the final Champions League spot for next season, what is usually a hotly contested clash between the two fierce rivals has a little extra spice.

But the 27-year-old has called on his teammates to remain calm ahead of the game:

“We know there will be a huge build-up, but as professional football players we can’t get carried away.” Mignolet told the Daily Mirror

“We have to focus on our jobs, we can’t get carried away, and as a game it is three points to win or to lose.” he added.

“If we are going to make more of it than it is we might get flustered or carried away with things so we have to address it in a professional manner and make sure we focus on our job rather than what the opponent does or how big a game it is.”
