Liverpool are set to make a move for Schalke 04 defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos, who could be available on the cheap according to the Daily Express.
The 23-year-old could be bought for as little as £5 million as he has just a year left on his contract, and the German club recently buying fellow centre-back Matija Nastasic. He is currently out on loan with fellow Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, where he has made 14 appearances and scored three goals. The defender also has the ability to play in holding midfield.
The Reds could use the Greece international as a replacement for the 33-year-old Kolo Toure, or also have Papadopoulos as an extra option in a position where midfielder Emre Can has had to play for most of the season. Despite Can doing well as part of a back three, with Steven Gerrard leaving in the summer it is possible he want to move the Germany international back to his natural position.
