Liverpool and Manchester United face their most important games so far in the top four race when they go head to head this weekend, but Liverpool’s England star Adam Lallana is under no doubts about who will emerge as winners.

Indeed, when asked by the Daily Express about who he thought would get the lucrative European spots.

The midfielder’s swift response was: “Chelsea, Man City, us and Arsenal – but not in that order.

“Being honest, if you had said to me we would win 10 and draw three of our next 13 league games [after defeat at Old Trafford]… if you had asked anyone from any team that, they would have snapped your hand off”.

Liverpool have taken 33 points from a possible 39 since that match, the most in the league by some distance.

“There were glimpses in that game. We lost 3-0, so it was disappointing, [but] that was probably the most chances we had created in a match up to then” Lallana continued. “Even though defensively we were open and we weren’t solid, we came away thinking we could have got a draw or even won”.

Kick off at Anfield is at 13:30 on Sunday.
