Liverpool are said to be interested in launching a stunning summer raid for Arsenal and England forward Theo Walcott at the end of the season, as talks to extend his deal at the Emirates continue to stutter, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Walcott enters the final year of his contract this summer, and recently Arsene Wenger admitted talks to keep him at the club are not going as well as he had hoped.

The 26-year-old not only wants a raise on his £100,000-per-week wages, but guarantees over his first team spot in the squad – something that has eluded him since his recent return from injury.

Brendan Rodgers is a known admirer of the player, and even made an enquiry to his availability before he penned his last extension in 2013.

Rodgers is also making plans in case Raheem Sterling makes his own summer exit from Anfield as he stalls over a new contract extension, too.

However, the Reds’ interest in the England star doesn’t solely rest on Sterling’s future as it also increasingly looks as though Mario Balotelli will be moving on during the transfer window.
