Embattled Ligue 1 side Metz may be able to call upon their Malian forward Maiga for their weekend match with Stade Malherbe de Caen with the attacker set to return to training on Friday.

Maiga was replaced last weekend as Les Grenats were defeated 3-2 at home by AS Saint-Etienne. He came off for Yeni Ngbakoto at half-time having suffered a light ankle sprain.

However, despite sitting out of sessions during the week, the former Queens Park Rangers man is set to return to training on Friday where he will work with former Aston Villa fitness coach Robert Duverne.

Metz remain firmly entrenched in the bottom three in Ligue 1 and with games running out are in desperate need of points. They are currently cut adrift and sit in 20th place, ten points of Evian Thonon Gaillard in 17th.
