Although the Gunners arguably looked out of the running by November, their recent improvement in form coupled with some disappointing results for Jose Mourinho’s side have sparked some hope of a late turnaround.

Arsenal are just seven points behind Chelsea with nine games left to play, though the Blues have a game in hand and will fancy their chances of finishing the job.

Still, Mourinho’s men are up against some big teams in the final few games of the season, Arsenal included, so is Wenger right to say there might still be a chance for his side to cause a major upset?

In recent times Arsenal have ended seasons well, doing what is needed to grind out results and ensure a top four finish. Still, with a much bigger prize on offer this time, will the pressure get to Wenger’s players? Their record in big games, for instance, suggests they might not quite have what it takes to deliver when there’s so much at stake.

And yet, all trends come to an end – and Arsenal ended a long wait to beat Manchester United with their impressive FA Cup win at Old Trafford. With Chelsea looking tired, perhaps there won’t be a better time for the north Londoners to end their awful record against the Blues as well?

One thing’s for sure – the Premier League is unpredictable and it was just three years ago that Manchester City made up a seemingly impossible eight-point deficit to catch United and seal the title on the final day of the season. Time to start dreaming, Arsenal fans!
