Van Gaal has sent scout Carlos Ruiz to run the rule over the no nonsense Argentine and Man United are apparently ready to offer the required sum needed to trigger the centre-back’s release clause.
Ruiz watched Otamendi put in a strong display over the weekend, his Valencia side thumping Elche 4-0, and such was his showing that the club are ready to spend £35.9m on the 27 year old.
