Manchester United veteran claims Louis van Gaal has found magic formula following victory over Liverpool

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has warned rivals that manager Louis van Gaal has now found the formula to success at the club.

Van Gaal’s men were at their best against Liverpool at Anfield in a performance which finally showed what a fully functioning Man Utd side under the Dutchman looks like.

The visitors dominated proceedings in the first half, where Liverpool’s usually intense pressure was made to look reckless, as the likes of Carrick and Ander Herrera picked them off at will.

The fact that Man United produced such a performance without the likes Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria in the starting XI particularly pleased Carrick.

“Listen, those boys [Di Maria, Van Persie and Falcao] are all top players, but I think we’ve got a number of players the manager can choose from, which is great,” he said (via the Mirror).

“Sometimes different games throw up different scenarios and different systems maybe, but the last two games have gone very well for us.

“We see in training, when we have games, that both teams are pretty equal, when we have 11 versus 11, because that’s the strength of our squad now. A lot of players have had game time this year and that does bring options.”

Carrick recently signed a one-year extension to his current deal, which will take him to ten years at the club, the former West Ham man is as integral to the side as ever.
