Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he turns the sound off to watch Match of the Day, seemingly criticising the quality of the punditry, according to reports in the Metro.
Such a comment is sure to hurt MOTD regulars Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker, and Mark Lawrenson, who are yet to return fire on the Frenchman with a jibe of their own.
The BBC show has become an institution among football fans across the country, but the commentators and pundits are often slated.
Wenger said: “Sometimes I watch Match of the Day to see how we’ve been perceived. It’s better to watch it with the sound turned down.”
The 65-year-old will be hoping that the MOTD crowd aren’t given any ammunition by poor performances from the Gunners in coming weeks.
They have a big game against Liverpool a week on Saturday, and the Lineker et al will surely be itching to jump on anything that goes wrong for the North London club.
