Manchester City deny making an offer for top class manager as hope remains for Manuel Pellegrini

Manchester City have denied making an approach for Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone after the Argentine boss signed a new contract to stay at the Spanish champions until 2020, according to the Press Association.

With the constant evaluations about Manuel’s Pellegrini managerial qualities at the Etihad Stadium, rumours have been rife regarding his long term future and the lack of support from the club’s hierarchy is deafening.

Simeone is one of the names to have been consistently  linked with the potentially vacant position, along with the likes of Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti, but he is set for a long-term future in Madrid.

Man City have since denied ever making an offer for Simeone, this comes after Spanish expert Guilleme Balague claimed that the La Liga winning manager turned down an offer from the English champions.

These latest developments may yet save Pellegrini his job as Man City’s current regime are notoriously known for sounding out potential replacements before they make a decision regarding the manager’s future.
