De Gea will have just 12 months left on his contract in the summer, and the Red Devils may have to cash in on the 24-year-old if he doesn’t sign a new deal by then. The Spaniard has been in amazing form this season, helping the Mancunian side to have the third best defence in the Premier League despite what is largely thought of as a dodgy defence.

Although Louis van Gaal already has Victor Valdes at Old Trafford, the former Barcelona man is yet to play and it seems the Dutchman wants to bring in another stopper should his number one leave. Begovic is set for contract talks with the Potters in a couple of weeks, and has insisted that he is happy to stay there. However, if a club like United were to come along the 27-year-old would surely find it difficult to turn down.
