Man United legend becomes the latest pundit to call for Gareth Bale’s return

It appears that the British media do not want Gareth Bale to stick out his tough time in Spain… Now, Paul Scholes has urged the Welsh winger to join Manchester United and help their push for the league title next season.

The former Tottenham Hotspur wide-man has been heavily criticised this season by sections of Real Madrid supporters, who seem to have forgotten his match-winning contributions in the Copa Del Rey and Champions League finals last year.

Following his admittedly poor display in last Sunday’s El Clasico defeat by Barcelona, his car was attacked as he left the club’s training ground.

As a result, rumours of a summer Bale exit have surfaced, such as here by Sky Sports, with both Chelsea and Manchester United linked, although it was reported in the Daily Mail earlier in the week that 25-year-old would prefer to remain at the Bernabeu…

But Scholes, in his Independent column, believes Bale’s would be a perfect addition at his old club:

“He would be loved at Old Trafford. In return I believe he could turn Louis van Gaal’s team into serious title contenders next season.” he said.

“All good players need to be appreciated. Bale would be coming to United in a time of change when the team is looking for leaders. Madrid will always be in a state of upheaval, with new presidents and a fresh intake of players each summer.”

“I can understand why he would want to see out his time at Madrid but even if he was to leave after two years, no one could say that, having won a Champions League title, his time there has been a failure. He has never won anything in English football and he would be hungry for success in this country.” he added.
