While goals were at a premium during Saturday’s action, there were several key performers and stand-out individuals during the weekend’s Ligue 1 action.

Few teams were more impressive than Marseille, who crushed Racing Club de Lens 4-0 on Sunday evening.

Accordingly, Marcelo Bielsa’s side contribute three players to L’Equipe’s TOTW. Michy Batshuayi, who scored twice in only 45 minutes, has been picked alongside the influential playmaker Dimitri Payet and veteran defender Rod Fanni.

AS Monaco also impressed as they target Champions League qualification. Leonardo Jardim’s side beat Stade de Reims 3-1 and midfield pair Joao Moutinho and Jeremy Toulalan have both had their contributions recognised in L’Equipe’s elite selection.

Max Gradel’s brace against LOSC Lille has seem him take a slot on the left of midfield, while Javier Pastore—who won a penalty for Paris Saint-Germain in their victory over FC Lorient—features on the right.

The defence is completed by Benjamin Pavard of Lille, Jeremy Sorbon of Rennes, Toulouse’s Jean Armel Kana-Biyik and SC Bastia goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

There is no place, however, for Monaco’s Fabinho, Andre Ayew of Marseille or Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Paris Saint-Germain, despite the last scoring a hat-trick for PSG against Les Merlus on Friday evening.
