Arsenal are preparing to make a major summer transfer swoop, should Theo Walcott fail to agree a new contract to extend his stay with the North London club. The 26-year-old is demanding more than £100,000-per-week, and the Gunners are ready to look elsewhere.

Reports in the Daily Mail explain that Walcott is out of contract at the end of next season, and that manager Arsene Wenger could target Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus as a potential replacement.

Wenger confirmed the club’s desire to extend Walcott’s current deal in February, but have made little progress so far. The pair were forced to deny reports of a bust-up earlier this week, and it could get to the point where a move is deemed best for both parties.

Liverpool have already shown an interest in the England international, and he might find his chances of first-team football more likely at Anfield, where the Reds are somewhat short on wide options.

Arsenal are likely to demand a fee in the region of £15m to allow Walcott to leave, and will put that money towards German international Reus. The Gunners failed to sign the Dortmund star last summer, but are thought to be among the leading candidates for the upcoming window.
