The Premier League side are ready to hand the 30 year old a £14m a year deal and will launch an £80m bid for the player according to the Daily Express.

Ronaldo has proven a massive success since moving to the Spanish capital in 2009, scoring 294 goals in 286 appearances, and last term helped his side to a Champions League triumph.

The Daily Express believe Louis van Gaal wants to bring in Ronaldo as he looks to strengthen this squad in the summer.

Man United are battling to secure a top four spot, their win over Liverpool last weekend pulling their five points clear of fifth place.

Having signed Angel di Maria from Real Madrid last summer, for a British record fee of £59.7m according to the Telegraph, one wonders how Louis van Gaal would cater for a fresh wide-attacking option with the likes of Juan Mata, Adnan Januzaj, Luis Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young in his armoury.
