John Terry is widely regarded as ‘Mr Chelsea’ among other titles and in a Blues squad that has changed drastically since the turn of the century he has been the one constant, such a constant that he has had 21 centre-back partners in his 17-year career at Stamford Bridge.

The 35-year-old put pen-to-paper on a new one year deal with the current Premier League leaders early in the week, a reward for his consistent performances this season, which has seen the Blues open up a six-point gap at the top of the table.

Terry also scored the opening goal at Wembley in Chelsea’s 2-0 Capital One cup win against Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the month, taking his total of trophies won as the captain of the club to 14.

In his long career with the West London outfit, many central defenders have come and gone. some have proved to be very successful, while others have been a disaster, we list Terry’s five best partners.

Chelsea’s current first choice centre-back pairing, not quite as good to be higher, but certainly good enough to make the top five. A big part of the current league leaders excellent defensive record.
