Robin Van Persie set to hand Manchester United injury boost

Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie could be set to hand the club a massive fitness boost by aiming to be back on the pitch in time for next month’s Manchester derby, the Daily Star reports.

The veteran Dutch international has been out of action since picking up a knock on his ankle during the game with Swansea back in February.

However, United have won every game they’ve played without the £24m striker, and are now closing in on securing a return to Champions League football next season.

But Van Persie’s will still come as a boost, and he hopes to be back in time for the April 12 clash with cross city rivals Manchester City at the Etihad.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men came out on top, 1-0, when the two side’s met at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign, and United are out for revenge having watched City’s own title challenge fall away they will be hopeful of revenge.
