With a mutual respect existing between two legends within the same national team, Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos has said that it is a shame that Andres Iniesta is such a stalwart with rivals Barcelona as he would love to line up alongside him every week, according to the Metro.
The two lined up against each other during a fiery El Clasico encounter, with the pair both picking up a yellow card.
But all of that has been forgotten this week as the national team congregates for the latest round of European qualifiers, and facing the press before Spain’s victory over Ukraine on Friday night the pair looked to be the best of friends.
And Ramos came out with a show of glowing admiration for the veteran midfielder, stating that he is one of the few players that is roundly applauded by opposition fans when Barca hit the road, before expressing his disappointment that he will never get to play alongside him at Real Madrid.
“Iniesta is the boyfriend that every mother wants her daughter to have. The figures over his career tell you all you need to know,” he said.
“He is a magical player. There are few players in the world that can compare to him, but unfortunately he is not with us at Real Madrid.”
