The Sun report that the centre-back is a top target for Mourinho’s in the summer transfer window.

With defender Pepe set to sign a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, that will further limit Varane’s first-team opportunities, the youngster is open to leaving the club.

The Blues boss signed the Frenchman when he was Real boss, and the 21-year-old would welcome teaming up with the Portuguese, once more, at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea captain John Terry signed a one-year contract extension on Thursday, but Mourinho is eager to add further reinforcements to his defence, with Kurt Zouma the only real back-up to Terry and Gary Cahill.
