Now at Bayern Munich, the 32-year-old has been finding it hard to get game time ahead of Manuel Neuer between the sticks. With De Gea being linked to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Mail report there is a chance that he could end up in the same position.

The 24-year-old has become linked to Los Blancos after two seasons in which he has almost single handedly kept the Red Devils’ defence from conceding far more than they have. Louis van Gaal’s side have conceded the third least goals in the Premier League this season, and have a lot to thank the former Atletico Madrid man for.

Reina said to TalkSport: “He is one of the top goalkeepers in Europe and this year he has been superb. Maybe Real Madrid are looking for a goalkeeper and De Gea is one of the names suggested, but I think he should be happy enough to play for Man United.”
