The two sides met in Montego Bay, Jamaica, but it was the visitors who took the lead, with 30-year-old left-back Gabriel Cichero opening the scoring on 13 minutes.

The South Americans were barely allowed to settle, however, and the two teams were level.

Giles Barnes was once the bright hope of Derby County and an England U21 international, but he made his debut here, after declaring for Jamaica, and wasted little time in making an impact.

The Houston Dynamo man levelled on 15 minutes, before Darren Mattocks of Vancouver Whitecaps found the winner on 59 minutes.

Both sides shuffled their packs in the second period, but Venezuela were unable to take advantage of the new faces in the Jamaican side and the scores remained tied at 2-1.

Vizcarrondo has enjoyed a steady year at Nantes, where he arrived in 2013 after spells with Club America, Once Caldas and Lanus among others. He has featured 29 times in Ligue 1 for the Canaries, scoring twice.
