Real Madrid are reportedly ready to speed up Iker Casillas’ exit from the club this summer with the hope of signing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea as his replacement, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Spanish giants want a new long-term replacement between the sticks after a decline in Casillas’ displays in recent times, and may now offer the veteran shot-stopper a £2.5m pay-off to quit the club at the end of this season.

De Gea’s superb form in the Premier League this season has seemingly put him firmly on Real’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window, and they hope that the exit of Casillas could help them in their efforts to sign the Red Devils ace.

United and Madrid have done a number of transfer dealings in recent times, with Angel Di Maria moving from the Bernabeu to Old Trafford last summer and Javier Hernandez moving in the other direction on a season-long loan deal.
