With his side trailing to Mario Balotelli and Didier Drogba goals, Gerrard made no mistake from the spot to fire past former teammate Pepe Reina and reduce the deficit in the all-star charity game.

The Liverpool captain has made the news for all the right reasons this afternoon after being sent-off for the Reds last weekend against Manchester United barely a minute after coming on as a second half substitute.

He will miss his club’s next three games through suspension and will be hoping inspire his current XI to another famous turnaround, similar to that of the 2005 Champions League final and the 2006 FA Cup final where he scored crucial goals to help Pool win those games.

Can team Carragher hold on or will team Gerrard find a equaliser?
