The two sides met in Doha as the Desert Foxes looked to put a disappointing run of games behind them.

The North Africans headed into the recent Africa Cup of Nations among the favourites, but were eliminated by the Cote d’Ivoire in the quarter-finals in Malabo.

They followed up that disappointing tournament showing with a friendly defeat against Qatar on Thursday.

However, Christian Gourcuff’s side demonstrated their class once again with a crushing 4-1 triumph over Oman.

Ishak Belfodil set the tone with a second-minute opener before Sofiane Feghouli bagged a brace. Belfodil then scored his second to make it four, before Al Busaidi pulled one back for the Gulf state.

Aissa Mandi impressed for the Fennecs, especially as he was playing in the heart of the defence, rather than in his normal position of right-back.
