David Silva has given Manchester City fans something to worry about by suggesting that he could return to La Liga in the near future according to the Daily Mirror.

The Spaniard was linked with a move back to his native country by the Mirror in February with Barcelona reportedly eyeing the 29-year-old as a potential replacement for Xavi, but the former Valencia midfielder has revealed he hasn’t closed the door on a potential return to the Mestalla despite being settled in England:

“I’m happy, people treat me really well.” Silva told the Spanish publication Marca (via Mirror)

“Although I’m not thinking about it right now, if I had to return to Valencia, I wouldn’t rule it out.” he added.

It has not been a great season for City in the pursuit of more silverware, losing in the Capital One cup to Newcastle, then a shock 2-0 home defeat by Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fourth round saw their hopes of winning that trophy disappear.

In Europe they were knocked out at the first knockout stage for the second consecutive year by the Barcelona, whilst their hopes of retaining the Premier League looks unlikely as they trail leaders Chelsea by six points having played a game more.

On a personal level it has been a productive season for Silva as he has scored a career high total of 11 league goals.
