During the 2013-14 campaign, the capital club lifted the Ligue 1 title after accruing 89 points. They finished nine ahead of second-placed AS Monaco and lost only three matches all campaign.

This year hasn’t been as straightforward, not least because their two main challenges for the French title—Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille—have improved dramatically.

After 30 matches, PSG have already lost five matches—one more than Lyon—and have demonstrated some worrying incompetence in the top flight.

Take, for example, their recent defeat to Girondins de Bordeaux. PSG conceded three times and fell to a 3-2 victory, competing with lethargy and a worrying defensive naivety.

Following some of their less convincing showings, Bernes has acknowledged that Blanc is aware of his side’s domestic failings compared to their previous showings under the former-national team boss.

“Straightaway, Paris Saint-Germain impressed with their quality of play, and they were champions of France like no one had been before,” the agent began, as reported by France Football.

“However, Laurent sees clearly that his team are playing less well, but he is always there in the home straight.”
