The 26 year old Mexican is currently on a season long loan to Real Madrid but has struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu.

talkSPORT claim the La Liga side have no interest in making the temporary move a permanent one and that the Potters are capable of meeting Chicharito’s reported £9m valuation.

Hernandez has been prolific when called upon by Man United with his tally of 59 goals in 154 appearances all the more impressive when you consider 69 of those appearances were from the bench.

Britannia Stadium boss Mark Hughes would no doubt love to land Hernandez but one has to wonder if the Old Trafford star would consider a move to a mid-table Premier League outfit.

Equally it looks unlikely Louis van Gaal would look to usher Hernandez back into his Man United squad with the likes of Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney as his chief striking options.
