The Cameroon stopper is in the middle of a troubled campaign. He hasn’t featured in Ligue 1 since helping OM to beat LOSC Lille in December and is yet to play a minute for his club in 2015.

He represented Cameroon at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, but failed to distinguish himself as the Indomitable Lions flopped and were eliminated in the group stage.

He has subsequently been out of action after undergoing a knee operation.

At the end of March, Phoceens coach Marcelo Bielsa was unable to say that he was optimistic about Nkoulou’s return to the first team.

However, the legendary Argentine coach will surely be buoyed by the news that the former AS Monaco has returned to training, according to L’Equipe.

Despite returning to action with his teammates on Tuesday, it would be a major surprise were the centre-back to play any part in OM’s match this weekend.

Les Olympiens welcome league leaders Paris Saint-Germain to the Stade Veldrome as they look to close the gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
