(Video) Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany attempts comically ambitious effort for Belgium

Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany didn’t have the best of games for Belgium last night but despite the focus on his deteriorating form, the defender certainly isn’t short on confidence.

Kompany captained his country as usual, against fellow Group B rivals Israel, and got off to a good start after assisting city rival Marouane Fellaini to score what would turn out to be the winning goal.

However, one moment in the game grabbed the headlines as Kompany juggled the ball on the half-way line before attempting an ambitious volley to say the least. The immediate reaction which comes to mind is, what was he thinking? But when viewing the clip, it is easy why he got carried away as he saw his name up in lights for a split second.

For Kompany however, his night would get even worse after he was shown a second yellow for a needless grab at Eran Zahavi to stop a counter-attack, Mark Clattenburg didn’t hesitate in producing the red.
