(Video) Manchester United target Gareth Bale shows off basketball skills

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is regarded as one of the best footballers on the planet, which is exactly why the Spanish giants paid a world record fee (via BBC Sport) to bring the Welshman to Madrid.

Bale has recently been linked with a move back to the Premier League as Manchester United wait in the wings but the European champions have since ruled out any move for their star forward (via Daily Mail).

The question often posed to professional footballers is what their job would have been had they not had a chance to realise their dream and most reference a career in another sport, on this evidence, Bale could’ve realistically become a basketball player.

He took on the NBA half-court challenge this week, which entails attempting to get the ball into the net from half-way, a skill which demands power and precision.

On his second attempt, Bale recorded a clean swish and judging by his technique, it seems as though he is rather familiar with the sport. This follows Bale’s man of the match performance for Wales in their 3-0 win against Israel. The 25-year-old bagged a brace for Chris Coleman’s men to leave them in a great position to qualify for their first major international tournament since 1958.
