The Red Devils are currently eight points off first place Chelsea, and the Stamford Bridge outfit also have a game in hand on the Mancunian side.

However, it is still mathematically possible for United to overtake them, with the pair still having to play each other before the end of the season.

The Dutchman is currently getting his team ready for their encounter with Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa, knowing a win could take them in to second, depending on the result of the earlier encounter between Arsenal and Liverpool.

After recent victories over the Merseyside club and Tottenham, the Villains are expected to be an easier test.

With eight games still to go in the campaign the 63-year-old is adamant that anything could still happen in the league: “There is still a rat race (for fourth) that Liverpool and Tottenham are involved in. We have given them a blow but we still have to play the top three teams. A lot can happen. Still we can win the title, mathematically. We can do that.”
