The Gunners were 3-0 up at the break following a devastating eight minute spell at the Emirates which saw Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez all get on the scoresheet, and even though a Jordan Henderson penalty with less than 15 minutes to go reduced the deficit, Olivier Giroud completed the scoring to send the home side second in the league.

Cazorla, who has scored seven league goals this season, revealed to the official club website that disrupting the visitors game-plan was key:

“Liverpool have very good players with Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho but the team played very compact and played together, which is very important for us. When we defend together, we always win.” he said.

The win has given Arsenal a nine point lead over the Merseyside outfit in the race for Champions League qualification next season with just seven games to go and the Spanish international admits the result was crucial:

“It’s a very important win for us because Liverpool are with us fighting for the Champions League.” he added.

Next up for Cazorla and his teammates is a trip to Turf Moor for a game against relegation threatened Burnley on Saturday as they aim to make it eight straight victories in all competitions.
