The Metro claim that the Stamford Bridge outfit are keen on midfielder Jordan Henderson with the 24 year old England man having apparently turned down a new £80k a week Anfield contract.

After a shaky start to his career on Merseyside, following his move from Sunderland in June 2011, Henderson has matured into a hugely important member of Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is also pursuing young attacker Raheem Sterling with the Daily Mail claiming that Chelsea have joined a host of sides tracking the 20 year old.

Much like Henderson, Sterling has turned down a fresh contract offer, believed to be to the tune of £100k, and as such a raft of Europe’s ‘Elite’ have taken a keen interest in the former QPR youth team graduate.

The Daily Mail claim that Sterling, who is joint-top scorer at Liverpool this season with ten goals in all competitions, is ‘agitating’ for a move back to the capital and this could aid Chelsea’s push for the adaptable forward.

Liverpool would be loathed to lose either player to Chelsea but have of course sold players to the club in the recent past, the likes of Fernando Torres and Raul Meireles making just such moves .
