Arsenal have been handed a boost in their potential attempts to land Lyon winger Nabil Fekir after the forward’s father claimed that he would only leave the French club for the Gunners, the Daily Mail report.

The newly capped Frenchman has been linked with Man City in recent weeks, but according to the player’s farther, that move will not happen due to the lack of obvious first team opportunities.

Arsenal seem to have the advantage over their rivals when it comes to French talent due to the presence of Arsene Wenger and it seems as though he’d be the defining factor in any deal for Fekir.

“Nabil would like to finish 1st or 2nd and play Champions League football with Lyon. If he leaves, it’ll be for Arsenal,” Fekir’s farther told La Persien (via Daily Mail).

“It’s the only club that can enable him to progress, with Arsene Wenger. He will not go to Manchester City to sit on the bench.”

Fekir has contributed to 19 goals this season for Lyon, scoring 12 and assisting seven according to WhoScored. His efficiency has dragged Lyon up the table and they’re now fighting for the title with giants Paris Saint Germain, who are a point ahead in first place.
