Ashley Young delighted to receive standing ovation from Manchester United fans

It has been a season of patience for all connected with Manchester United and it seems everything is now beginning to fall in place, and it also seems that winger Ashley Young is finally beginning to win round the supporters at Old Trafford.

Since joining from Aston Villa in the summer of 2011, Young had struggled produce consistent performances in a United shirt after scoring a brace against Arsenal in only his third appearance for the club.

After being being a bit part player last season under former manager David Moyes, he has now become a key player in this new look United side, keeping out the likes of Angel Di Maria and Juan Mata at times during the season.

The 29-year-old has re-established himself under Louis van Gaal this year, even playing as a left-back on numerous occasions, against his former club on Saturday he was given a rousing reception by the United supporters as he was replaced by Di Maria, something which pleased the England man:

“It’s always nice to get a standing ovation and hear the fans sing your name.” Young said in the Daily Star.

“They have been fantastic and we wanted to put on a good display for them, get some goals and get the three points.” he added.
