Manchester United ‘tentatively’ agree deals to sign £55m pair

The pair are thought to need to pay between £10.8-14.4 million for the Ghana international, who has been impressing for Augsburg in the Bundesliga this season. The left-back has made 24 appearances in the German top flight, and grabbed four assists. Not a bad creative record for a player who is primarily a defender.

There had apparently been some reports that Real had agreed a deal to sign the 20-year-old and loan him back until 2017. However, the full-back’s agent Sascha Empacher has made it clear that this is not the case.

He said: “The fact that Baba is associated with Real Madrid in the media is, of course, already a great honour. His achievements have brought him to the attention of the world’s best clubs. But we have not negotiated with Real.”

Whether the non-negotiation with the Spanish club has anything to do with their recent signing of Porto left-back Danilo is unknown, but it would be strange for them to sign two players in the same position in quick succession.
