Manchester United target mysteriously ruled out of next league game

Manchester United’s reported target Edinson Cavani has been ruled out of Paris Saint Germain’s next fixture against St Etienne by manager Laurent Blanc after the two were involved in heated debate as the forward was substituted in the 3-2 victory over Marseille, according to designated reporter Jonathan Johnson.

Cavani was today linked with a move to the Red Devils with the club looking to replace him with Dutch forward Robin van Persie; Ed Woodward and co will be encouraged by the recent events in PSG’s camp (via the Daily Mail).

For the past couple of years, Blanc has struggled to accommodate both Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their preferred roles which has meant that the Uruguayan has often been asked to fill a wide birth.

Scoring 18 goals from a wide role is a respectable return, but Cavani is still short of the form which earned him a record-breaking move to PSG in the summer of 2013.

Manchester United will reportedly come under pressure from Atletico Madrid, who have identified the former Napoli man as an ideal replacement for the disappointing Mario Mandzukic (via Daily Mail).
