The England under-21 international is currently spending the season on loan with fellow Premier League side West Ham, where he has nailed the right-back berth down as his own.

However, with Glen Johnson’s contract running down, and no new deal on the horizon, they are targeting the £7 million-rated youngster as a replacement.

The 23-year-old is due back at The Emirates at the end of the season as he still has three-years remaining on his contract, meaning the Gunners will not have to be held to ransom over an asking price.

Jenkinson is a well known Arsenal fan, but with the likes of Hector Bellerin and Mathieu Debuchy ahead of him he may decide to move on permanently.

West Ham had been hoping to keep hold of him, but with Brendan Rodgers apparently expressing an interest he may opt to move up north.
