The Brazilian was the star man as the Reds beat Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup quarter finals on Wednesday evening, scoring the winning goal with 20 minutes to go in the encounter. However, manager Brendan Rodgers may not be able to rely on these kind of heroics for much longer if the Citizens have anything to say about it.

The Sky Blues may have some trouble getting their man though. The 22-year-old signed a new deal at Anfield in February. However, the Etihad hierarchy think that they can tempt him away by offering a significant pay rise on his current £70,000 a week contract.

The Daily Mirror value the Liverpool man in the region of £35 million, a massive rise on the £8.5 million they paid for him from Inter Milan in just January 2013, but perhaps still less than one would expect in today’s inflated transfer market.
